Raw Food Diets – Animals Products
Whilst the raw vegan diet is the most popular form of raw foodism, another form which is of interest is that of eating raw animal products. These would obviously more normally include raw dairy – in addition they might include eggs and even fermented meats. Of note is that some raw foods such as raw soy might even be toxic let alone hard to digest unless sprouted. Smoked meats are another possibility with a distinction made between hot and cold smoked foods. By eating raw omnivorous food from free-range, grass-fed sources this is reported as diminishing harmful bacteria. Specific examples of the raw food diet include the “Primal Diet”, “Instinctive Eating” and also the “Paleolithic diet” which could also be known as the “raw meat diet”.
The originator of the Paleolithic diet is called Aajonus Vonderplanitz and they estimate that there are about 20,000 followers of this which includes minimal fruit and vegetable juices. Of note is that traditional aboriginal diets may also consist of a large amount of raw food including raw meat as well as berries.
Some raw food proponents of raw meat eating even suggest allowing the meat to “putrefy” and then eating it, once it has decayed to some extent. They have claimed that not only is it safe, but in one or more examples, they claim that it may have cured them of a serious condition such as cancer. Others say that we should eat animal products, because in nature even herbivorous animals like elephants will likely consume insects incidentally. Whatever is the situation, one should take care when undertaking any kind of new raw food diet and consult with a suitably
qualified person to check your situation if there is doubt of safety.
